Okay so first off I randomly played Splatoon like once when I was a lot younger not very long after its release, but I don't think that counts as the starting play date so I'm not doing that shit bc I'm not a bitch ass liar. Anyway um here's also an unpopular opinion maybe: I think Splatoon 1 captured the particular aesthetic that Nintendo was aiming for in that experimental project wayyyy better than in Splatoon 2. I don't care about desparities in graphics and graphics quality, the overall aesthetic and feel of the bustling urban area modeled after Tokyo I think was done a lot better in Splatoon 1. Idk it just hits different. Also the music was better. Octo Expansion music doesn't count because OBVIOUSLY literally every single one of those tracks SLAP. Another unpopular opinion maybe, I actually really like the hero campaign music like a lot. I used to listen to it while I would draw in late 2019. TLDR: I played Splatoon 1 after Splatoon 2 and I think that's absolutely pivotal to my experience in this fandom and at the game in general. Oh yeah I also don't have any fucking pictures of when I played this game because I didn't take any because screenshots on the Wii U were somehow a pain in the ass.
